SPRING BALL Over 150 guests attended
the Back2Africa Spring Ball on Saturday 24th April 2010
which can probably be best described as a truly superb and
memorable evening for guests and students alike.
Our venue, Stock Brook Country Club, provided the most
stunning of settings in which to host our fundraiser. With
a start time of 7pm everyone was welcomed in the reception
area with a champagne cocktail, while the dulcet tones of
Bassment Jazz (a group of talented of musicians from
the Coopers' Company & Coborn School) could be
heard playing nearby.

Following an announcement to adjourn to the Banqueting
Suite there followed brief speeches by Tom Mead and myself,
before a truly first class dinner was served. Later, during
coffee, Alex Defroand spoke about the team's hopes and aspirations
for the community project in Zambia. Then, with the DJ at
the helm, guests took to the dance floor (and did they
dance!).
Whilst meticulous organisation plays a key part in any
event such as this, were it not for the guests themselves,
quite simply, our fundraiser would not have been possible.
It was their presence which contributed to make the most
successful of evenings. Our sincere thanks must go therefore
to everyone who came along to support us. Thank you so much.
We would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge
Esther McCall, Charlotte Boultwood (our event co-ordinator
at Stock Brook) for her professionalism and securing
the 4-Ball auction item; James Carter for providing guests
with commemorative photos and a framed portrait for auction;
all raffle prize contributors and Lee Pridie for the provision
of a signed Arsenal shirt.
We have yet to finalise our accounts for the evening, but
it looks as if our endeavours may have raised close to £4,000.
It's a brilliant result (far exceeding our expectations)
and the general consensus from the tributes and accolades
received, leaves us to conclude that the night was an absolute
triumph.
